Susan Carpentier, Chairman Rock Island County Republican Party.
Elected in April 2006 as County Chairman, Susan is working to energize the Rock Island County Republican political structure. A lifelong resident and registered Republican, Susan is dedicated to Republican principles of smaller government, lower taxes and a strong national defense. “I believe in the American dream and I am an optimist. That’s why I am a Republican.”

Bernard Thiergart, Vice Chairman Rock Island County Republican Party.
Bernie started getting involved in politics when Mark Baker ran for Congress in 1998. After Tom Getz became chairman of the Rock Island County Republican Party, Bernie took a more active role and became a precinct committeeman. He is currently the vice-chairman for the County Republican Party. Bernie served his country in the United States Marines between 1977-1980. He lives in Moline with his wife Ginny and son AJ. Bernie believes in the ideals that the Republican Party stands for: Strong on Defense, Lower Taxes, Limited Government and Family Values.
John Bauersfeld, Treasurer.
John has been the Rock Island County Republican Treasurer since 2006.
Lois Frels, Secretary.
Lois has a long history of leadership in the public and political sectors. The following is a list of her past and current accomplishments:
• Current President of the Illinois Federation of Republican Women; elected to 2nd term in October 2007 • PhD from the University of Minnesota in Education and Public Health Nursing • Precinct Committeeman for 10 years • Elected for 9 years to the Riverdale School Board • Inducted into the UTHS Hall of Fame in 2004 • Was awarded the Mildred Frisk award in 2000 • Secretary of Rock Island County Republican Party since 2000 • Has served on the NFRW board and conducted 2 national studies for the NFRW • Served on the National Reforming Healthcare Policy Board • Has been married to Calvin Frels for 57 years and has 2 sons and 2 grandchildren. Lois lives in rural Hillsdale.
